With torrents you need to be patient. Neither FrostWire or LW are very good as torrent programs, they do not record share ratio, do not communicate with the tracker as well as the better known true torrent programs such as uTorrent & Vuse (Azureus).

At least when using the gnutella network, you can re-search the topic & use the Get/Find More Results option by right-clicking the search tab to find more sources to download from. :)

Other than that, AFAIK Verizon do not shape bandwidth for p2p sharing. However, wireless is not the most reliable.

Is there a page like this for Frostwire please ?

The test page would have worked for anybody not only LimeWire. However that page is no longer active.

Only port test I can find that still seems to give a reliable response is this one: Shareaza Connection Test

How to use? Open FrostWire. Go to your Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Firewall/Listening Ports & see which port FW is trying to connect through. Copy paste that port into the port test page. Run the test whilst FrostWire is open. If TCP is open then all is good.

Many thanks for that, got :
Results

TCP: The TCP connection has been refused, the port is closed. Either a firewall or a router has not been configured on this port, or no application is currently using it. Make sure your firewall or router is properly configured to not block or forward this port and that Shareaza is running and configured to use this port. UDP: No answer has been received from your client. This can have various reasons, like that your firewall or router isn't properly configured for Shareaza, or Shareaza is not running on this port, or not connecting to the networks. At least one problem has been detected and you probably have to configure your firewall or router for Shareaza.

(I'm on Frostwire)

Then you'd do it for Frostwire. Same principle. :)

Thanks, but we're only testing the port, so would it matter which programme?

Any help much appreciated.

Lord of the Rings November 23rd, 2010 03:14 AM

nope. But if it's a program that uses UPnP or is going through a firewall then that test will show at least if things are really blocked badly.

Thanks, what next ?
