How to Stop Frostwire

I need help with this. We have Verizon dsl internet.

Its being split 3 ways, and my brother is downloading porn and other pointless movies to slow the internet up for everyone else, and He always has a pass or something on his comp so i cant get in on his comp and mess with it.

HE connects to our internet with a ethernet cord into the back of the hub that connects to the router.

Is there anyway to block a port or is there anyway to stop his computer from connecting to frostwire without actually going on his computer?

Get to know your modem router

Yes, there is a way to prevent your little brother from logging on to your modem/router.

First off, I don't know the make or model of your modem router so I cannot give you specific advice but, and because I too have a such a device, I can give you some general pointers.

a) You must have the "Administrators Access/Rights" to your modem router, you will not be able to do anything without it.

b) Setup the WPA or WPA2 security facilities within your modem router, most devices will allow either WEP, WPA or WPA2.

c) Register each PC, within your modem router, that you want to have Internet access (do not register you brother's PC).

d) Make sure that your security setting only allows registered PCs.

You will have to read, and become familiar with, your modem router's userguide (there is no other way around this) to find out the specific details of my instructions.

Good Luck.

ukbob, I think you are suggesting the little brother be totally disconnected from the internet. I suspect that's not the objective of MyLittleMute. But instead to block their use of FrostWire or limit its use in some way.

I suspect blocking of most ports outside those used by your browsers is possible via your router, though abilities of this will vary depending on brand & model.

With my internet service we have ability to block a port range via our settings with the ISP. Aim would be to block those ports above 1000 I'd suggest. Whilst this will not totally stop the use of LW, it will most likely cause some form of connection issues.

Knowing more about what router brand AND model, and knowing which ISP you are using would help us to offer advice. :)

You are right, I got carried away with the solution rather than thinking about what MLM was asking for.

Port blocking or bandwidth shaping, which most ISPs do now, will slow down any P2P connection to an unusable crawl while leaving other Internet connections unaffected.

I read and ive all been told to do was block ports on my router so people cant connect to frostwire. I have no idea about networking and router. How do I access my router so i can block ports?

You will need to log into the router .. can you specify the brand & model of router & we can try to help give you the log-in details, etc. ;)
