Filters don't seem to work

Each time I start a new search on a windows box running phex 0.7.2 and 0.7.3 under both jre1.3 and jre1.4 and I attempt to filter the results it filters all results regaurdless of whether or not they math the criteria.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

This works for me. e.g. if I seach for "ACDC" and then I set a filter "TNT" and I apply the filter, I get australian explosives only.
Maybe there are other critera (file size etc.) that didn't match.
Could you please tell more precisely what are your filter criteria.

I see whats going on now!!

Well to answer your first question I usually do searchs like
"divx" followed by a filter string of "html url exe jpg zip" and a min file size of 200MB. Well when I installed the new version of phex it remembered my last search so I just ran it. It didn't automatically filter anymore so I hit apply filter and everything disappeared. Even things I thought matched this setup.

Here is what I believe is whats going on. Up until 7.1 when you put a string in the filter box it blocked all things that contain that string from appearing. Now after some experimentation I believe it only shows items that contain the filter sting.

So it used to sift and now it searches. Maybe it is a new option that you can change the functionality of this, if it is I didn't realize. Hopefully you can still sift, because I find that to be a more useful tool. Anyways if I am competely wrong about this please let me know.

Well this isn't a good searching strategy. You know how gnutella works? Many users are sharing files with a "divx" substring. So there are two scenarios:

every user sharing "divx" is replying you request, then the network is swamped with these replys and the network is going down.
newer clients only send a few replies per request to save the network, so maybe the movie you are looking for is hidden.
So you should seach with terms like "movie of my choice" and then set a filter string of "divx" for best results. If you like to look, what's around in the network, you should try passive seach, you can sort the columns by filesize so best results are on top.
