window closes itself upon starting

It worked once, but when I try to start it, as soon as the window comes up, it closes itself and disappears. I noticed that the button in the tray disappears also as soon as it appears. help? i have win 95

Hello,

first we need some more information:
* your phex version and launching method,
* your java runtime environment version,
* check the file %WINDOWS%\phex\phex.log for messages,
* try launching phex from a console window using java -jar phex.jar, are there any error messages?
+ deleting the contents of %WINDOWS%\phex is worth a try (if you don't need your previous configuration).

Phex version - 0.7.3_j2se1.4, launched all methods
Java runtime environment - ?

all of them say the same thing.

no error messages when run from a console window.

Hey, I deleted the config files, and it works now!! I guess I might have to do this every time I start it? I didn't change the config, I only had it running for a few minutes, and the next time I started it, I had the problem I mentioned.

Try java -version in the console window, it should say something like:
java version "1.4.0_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0_01-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0_01-b03, mixed mode)
If it's not 1.4 you should try phex_0.7.3_j2se1.3...
