PRB:can't download Hi all, Using Phex 0.9.0.44 on JRE1.4.0-b92. Working behind a personal firewall (ZoneAlarm 3.7.202). I can connect and make a search, but can't download! 1) Does it need an incomming connection to make a download?! (I'm seeing atempts to connect my machine on port 19202 [the default listening port], even after I checked "Host is behind a firewall" - which is blocked by the firewall). 2) What is the meaning of checkbox "Connected to Local Area Network"? Thanx, Adrian. |

Still, what can be wrong with my settings? |
Your firewall maybe?? |
The firewall grants the JVM _only_ outgoing access (on any port) - is this a problem? |
usually not... Have you tried downloading very popular files? Where you have many download candidates? Maybe the download candidates are firewalled too. In this case there is no chance that you can download from then (Rating should be 1 or 0) You can also send me a mail and I will send you a very very early beta of the next release. It might make things better, though the download basics haven't changed. |
>Have you tried downloading very popular >files? Where you have many download >candidates? Yes, I tried to find some very small files, so I looked for *.jpg files (found one around 15K). It has more than 130 candidates - is this considered enough? >Maybe the download candidates are >firewalled too. In this case there is no >chance that you can download from then >(Rating should be 1 or 0) Hmmm, in this case they cannot be considered as "candidates"... |
Try disabling Zonealarm? You don't mention whether you have tried downloading WITHOUT zonealarm running. That might distinguish whether the problem is in the firewall or not.... I really doubt that for this small test period your PC will be attacked somehow. Just stay away from exe (-cutable) files when you download..... You might be able to just loosen up Zonealarm's restrictions on Phex, too. I assume you're not behind a router, too? |
