Go into options - > downloads, and set it to allow more downloads at the same time.

Depending on your connection you can set simultaneous connections to as much as 24 and simultaneous downloads at 6 or 8, I'm often using higher values, but then my computer boggles down :)

There IS an ideal setting for your connection, but you'll have to find it...
