Downloaded Files Don't Enter Library?

Using the latest version of PHEX, downloaded files don't move to the library. When I click on Rescan the following message appears on the lower right hand corner of the screen: Saving Settings Failed. Failed to save shared files. Reason: Phex.common.file.Managed File Exception: read failes [is "failes" a typo]; interrupted.

How can I resolve this, please?

Hm I saw this too ... and I coldn't work out what it was referring to and ignored it. However, on checking I find that I am sharing one folder which I have been adding to regularly over the last few weeks, and none of my recent downloads is showing. I have just "hidden" folder and re-shared it and all the files are now in there.

Rescanning seems not to work ... (I didn't get the error message this time though). This could well be a bug. We'll see what GregorK has to say.

Strangely rescanning works for me, but I only checked it with newly shared folders, so maybe there's a bug with folders, which have been shared before the last Update, or something similar.

I have just added three new songs all by the same artist. Two from albums I already have part of, and one from an Album that is new to me. The song from the new album would not go into the Library after rescanning. The other two did.

I only added the Artist to my Shred Library yesterday to run this experiment.

After hiding and then re-adding the complete artist folder all three songs are being shared.

There is clearly some sort of bug there. Again I did not get the error message this time. I have only seen that once, as already said, and I don't know whaty triggered that.

I should just add that each album has it's own subfolder inside the Artist folder ... I use iTunes for this.

You can ignore the error windows, it happens when manuall and automatic rescan overlap each other.
I try to make sure the error doesn't appear anymore on "interruption".

I'm not sure yet what kind of bug you are running into that causes some files to be missed on rescan.

Ok.. I did some tests and I think what might confuse you is that when you share a folder the folder and all subfolders are added to be shared.
You could now remove some subfolder in case you dont want to share those. They will be hidden.

When you now create a new folder on the file system Phex is not automatically recursively sharing that folder. It actually cant distinct between this being a new folder or one of the folders you previously remove from the share.

That shows that the problem by design. We like to allow the user to quickly share a folders recursive but also give the option to hide some folders from the recursive share...

Maybe the way it works is not done the right or most obvious way. It would be great if you have any suggestions how to improve this and still be able to keep the same functionality.

Gregor thanks for the reply. It is somewhat confusing being a Limewire/Frostwire user also, where things are often totally different. Now I realize how Phex works, I am sorry I bothered you:) I shall give thought to one or two things about the sharing set up of Phex and let you know what I come up with ... if I do:)

I just experienced this same problem tonight. I don't have any subfolders, just the two: Complete and Incomplete. What is strange (and maybe this will help you out GK) is that the computer started getting sluggish right after that error occurred. Had no idea why. I checked the running processes and it showed the folders taking up 99% of my CPU! I manually shut them down (the X didn't work) and the CPU went to normal. When I reopened the folder all of the files were there.
