Phex on Vista

I'm trying to install Phex on Vista (your newest release). Turns out to be a PITA.......
The splash screen appears but then nothing else happens......
Could you take a look at my screen shots of the debugging report.....
By the way, gives you also a glimbse to the new Vista look.....;)
Thanks anyway:)

The Vista I use is the newest beta release and I do not use it as my main OS.
I could install LW without any problems (it even runs now with Java 6 beta).
But with Phex it seems to be a library issue (like in the other thread GregorK replied to).
Thanks anyway for your suggestion garbagefan2....;) :)

If you like to experiment... you can download this file:
http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.c...ooks-2.0.2.jar

Rename it to looks-2.0.1.jar and replace it with the looks-2.0.1.jar file in your Phex installation folder.

It would be nice to hear from you if it worked or not.

Thanks GregorK.......unfortunately, no joy.......:( :(
I made a new screen shot in the hope that you might spot something.
The problem is the same as before......splash screen opens, and that's it. Nothing else afterwards.....

Are you sure you renamed the 2.0.2 file correctly to 2.0.1?

Can you also try the same procedure with this file:
http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.c...0&pathrev=3332

Yes, I renamed it correctly (i.e removed "hide file extentions"), but it was the second file that did the trick.....;) :D ;) :D
Thanks man.......;) :).......now I'm back in the game.....

Well the catch is that this file is an outdated version, and the publisher of the library said that the 2.0.x version should support the new Windows Vista color and font style etc...
It also seems to make problems on Windows ME though...

Actually, I've Phex running right at the moment.
It took a while till the firewall disappeared (and I hope it won't come back) after I configurated the firewall.
However, I get a lot of "Connection timed out" and "503 service not available" and "Software caused connection to fail".
In general I see a lot of " Negotiate 0.6 handshake", but only 1-2 ultrapeers can connect every now and then. Peers can't connect at all.
Something I do not have when running Phex on XP.
So, is there anything else wrong with my configuration??

p.s another messages see is " I'm a leaf node" or something like that.....

GregorK June 14th, 2006 12:45 AM

Try to set it to "Force Ultrapeer" and check if you get better connections. Phex can tend to have trouble finding other vendor ultrapeers with open slots (503) due to vendor preferencing.
