Only connecting to Ultrapeers?

I never seem to connect to anyone except ultrapeers. I have a Linksys WRT54G router (with the right port forwarded to my ip) and Comodo personal firewall (with javaw.exe, parent phex.exe, given a green light for TC/UDP from any to any ip) and as far as I know, my ISP isn't blocking Gnutella (Telus, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada). I'm currently not sharing very many files (10 mp3s), and my half-open connections is set to 50. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it normal to only be connected to four ultrapeers? I believe their files are the only ones showing up in the resaults. Also, is there any way to password protect the adult and scam rules in Phex? Thanks for any help,

Ddro

You seem to be in leaf mode. In this case you will only connect to ultrapeers.
It takes a while till Phex decides that you qualify to be a ultrapeer, or you force Phex to be ultrapeer by setting it through the network options.

Ultrapeers should forward your searches to there connected ultrapeers and they should be connected to around 20..

No, not yet. You can only set default rules to be permanently enabled, or copy them to create your own variation of them...
Is there a need for password protected rules??

It would be quite nice to have password protected rules in Phex, so parents could let their children use it.

If you should decide to code it, please let me know, so I make polish the adult rule quite a lot more to make it more safe for children (at the moment it might let some adult material slip through, and when we advertise "password protected adult filter" we should have a mostly secure adult filter. It's file name based, so it can't be an absolute security. Fake files might still slip through, but none of the "genuine" adult files).

Wow .. what's happened to the phex forums!??? looks good ..I'm just finding my way around.:super:

I'm not sure about allowing children to access the Gnutella network. Many files are misnamed, and many "complaints" have appeared in the Limewire forums, that their children have sat down to watch some childrens classic only to find it is Porn. I firmly believe Limewire, Phex or any other Gnutella client are not childrens toys.

I hear that....letting your kids run free on the PC is about the same as letting them run the streets...depending on where you live the streets might be a better place

That's something I'd agree to, at least if you can't be sure that they understand your reasons for requiring certain actions...
