Stop Freeloading

Gnutella only works and grows when people get =and= share. That's pretty obvious by now. Here's a few of my ideas to keep things balanced:

* Implement a rating system which allows the exchange of host ratings peer-to-peer; for example, if host 'A' shares a file with host 'B', host 'B' could broadcast a positive rating across the network which includes the file size, download time, etc.; ratings would be kept on individual hosts and shared via the network.

* Force sharing of download folders (like Xolox does).

* Implement a "allow freeloaders rarely/often/always" feature like LimeWire has.

* Display pop-up notices encouraging users to share if they're not.

I agree, why was support for sharing the download folder removed. For one Phex won't share files that are being downloaded unless you press rescan. There are no good reasons not to allow this.

I don't want my download folder to be shared. It should be configurable.

yeah...

It is configurable except that you can't choose to have your download folder the same as the upload, why?

We don't want to have incomplete files to be shared. In one of the next version completed files will be moved to your share folder when the download is completed. Then the download folder will be only a incomplete file folder. I hope this is fitting your needs.
