[semi-ot] why not Sourceforge?

I remember that years ago there was a debate about some sourceforge's policy change, causing many projects to shift from there to GNU-Savannah.
What does the issue was about?
I'd like to start my "gnutella content-oriented client" project on SF (still far better than the FSF resources), but I want to be sure about all the GNU issues...

Sorry I have no idea,
I wanted to let SF host my project to but I was tired of reading those agreements. I think if you really want to go sure what's the difference, read it yourself.

Its still better than to rely on someone else's post.

The issue is that sourceforge switched from using GPL software to propietary software. You used to be able to download sourceforge's backend software, but they switched to a propietary system. Savannah is like Sourceforge (although it hasn't implement bug reports and some other things yet), except that it's backend is open source, and always will be.

I don't know about this back-end software. We develop a Gnutella client on sourceforge.net, and I was very impressed of all services they offer.
In one month my team grew from two to eleven members!

Agree. Just created a project on SourceForge, have not done much, what impressed me though is the service SourceForge provided. Their web server is extremely fast. http://gnucula.sourceforge.net :o
