Gnutella client using Jtella

Hi all,

Can anybody give me some details about how to create client using Jtella. I tried (got examples from Java world also by ken macrary) but still lack some documentation details on Jtella. I still need some guidance and examples using Jtella. Any suggestion/tutorial highly appriciated.

Thanks :)

Me too! I think JTella is much outdated.
In all my tries I couldn't connect to any host. I tried Phex but I'm still not able to make a client that only connects to the network.

Btw if you want debugging in JTella just put -DJTella.Debug=true in the command line.

If you can make a working client please let me know...

You will find a lot of documentation in our faq:

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&threadid=4638

You can also look in the Limewire and Phex source. The developers are registered here if you need help.

But it sounds more that you search for a tutorial " easy learning java and programming clients"! I never heard about such a tutorial (if it exists you will find it with www.google.com ), the normal way is to learn java, c, c++ etc. (there are a lot of tutorials and then you can read Moakīs faq and create your own client. You should also know a lot about networks and telecommunicatin. Its not done with a few tutorials and some examples...

Thanks for the suggestion. I am newby in this subject. I was also informed that Jtella is quite outdated. Well what I mean was lack of Documentaiton on Jtella except the javadocs.
BTW I am still wondering whether Gnutella v.04 protocol is still in use. Can new Gnutella clients (limewire, bearshare etc.) can still recognize old protocol messages? Thanks :)

No. The most clients including Limewire and Bearshare donīt support 0.4 clients anymore.
