P 2 P Software

In my 'new boy' capacity, I'm in awe of this P2P stuff and pretty happy that I can get regular speeds upwards 56Kbps using Limewire. However, I also have Morpheus. Although the d/l speeds are shocking, I like the fact that you can search multiple P2P networks i.e. Gnutella, Neo, Fastrack eDonkey etc...

Are their any plans for Limewire to include automatic searching of other P2P networks?

multiple network support has been discussed and there has been some development, but it is not yet successful (see some discussion the on the first page at http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=25685 )

Simplified--p2p networks use a lot of traffic just to maintain the connections. This traffic gets multiplied when connecting to multiple networks.

So multiple networks can reduce the efficiency of each, and searches and file transfers are probably suffering. Too, network loyalty and politics are involved.

This might change, but for now "multiple networks" is a controversial catchword.
