Fraudulent results Good Morning From Texas. First, let me start off by saying "Howdy" and that I have been using Limewire for about 4 years now, happily. My question is not really one that I think any of you can answer, so much as just a point for the development community to ponder upon. When you misspell a search query, and you have a few results come up with that 138.7 kb file size, could it be that people are using their incoming search results monitor, and renaming a virus file to match it? Surely this can be done easily enough with a script. If this is theoretically possible, why not simply remove the Monitor from the next build? Just a thought on how we can make Limewire safer for users who can't figure out that a 138kb file isn't an MP3....:shoot: |
It's even easier: They just modified a Program (mostly LimeWire) to reply to any search with terms matching your search. So changes in LimeWire can't stop the, they'd just undo them. But it is a nice way to find (and mark) Spam, by the way :) |
Those are the ones who were dumb enough to download the scam files and to share them thereafter. I don't feel bad blocking them, too. All others shouldn't return any scam results :) |
