Best Gnutella software? OK, I'm new to this so please forgive me if i'm barking up the wrong tree. I get the impression there are several different Gnutella formats/programms out there. Which one is the best to download? Are they all linked together? Andrew |
here is a good source of info: what you want depends on many things. Most are free so try them out. http://www.gnutellanews.com/ http://forums.gnutelliums.com/smile.gif |
Check the feedback board if you have a MAC... someone put a review up there for all of them... ------------------ Greetz, Zifnab the Wizzard Email: webmaster@thewizzard.zzn.com Homepage:The Wizzard's Tower |
This could be interesting for you: Furi has a nice feature which i havenīt seen in any other gnutella software yet: You can add "candidates" to your download files. These are file of exactly the same filesize which are hosted on other servers. So if a download breaks or is impossible, Furi switches to the next host in the candidates-list and continues downloading from there. You can even search for those candidates. This speeds up the downloading process a lot as you donīt have to wait until a certain host gives you the permission to start a download. It works very well, I never had problems with files whiche werenīt the same and had the same filesize. And as it is a pure java software it will almost surely run on your system as well as on any other, whatever you got. I think this makes Furi the most advanced gnutella soft. There are other interesting features as well, but mentioning them all would lead to far here. |
I've tried Furi, LimeWire, and Gnutella. Furi is the best of the three. I run Windoze and Solaris, I can't get the LimeWire specific or java version to run on Solaris. Furi is great on both boxes, I use the java version on Solaris and the windows specific version on my other machine. The only problem is I can't connect to the default hosts provided by Furi but I added good hosts to my furi.hosts file and no problems. Personally I wouldn't try Bearshare as I heard they put spyware in their package which is a practice I detest. |
I believe that this is correct (Spyware in Bearshare). But after you killed the Spyware (I recommend AdAware) it seems to be a reliable good program, so far I can say - I am testing it right now, and am satisfied so far http://forums.gnutelliums.com/smile.gif. |
FURI Rev 0.6.8 is the BEST. Runing on a Mac, only two things missing. 1. block on Freeloaders 2. Browse of Servants shared directory. Download features are GREAT, try it after running others and you won't go back! |
