You missed my point. I wanted to tell you, that open source software as it is today, even debian linux (which is just yet another linux distribution), depends on companies to contribute vital code to open source projects.

Without the companies, that have to make money, of course, there would be a lot less open source software.

There are quite a couple of companies successfully making money with open source software. The difference is, you don't sell the software but services. A service could be selling support or the service of compiling the software, maybe even the service of further development.

If you don't pay for LimeWire, it's your choice, but don't believe you don't get anything for the money you spend.

I said its stupid to earn money with "open source", not trying to earn money, because its fully legal to compile the source!

Yes this is my point, Limewire tries to sell the source which everybody can get free! They canīt sell a service because they donīt own the net!
