Question regarding GNUtella running on Firewall beeing steered from LAN behind

Hi all http://forums.gnutelliums.com/smile.gif

I heard about a client some time ago that would run on one computer and and has the feature to be steered/accessed from another Computer.

This would be perfect on my network:

Here, there are 4 WIN98SE-Boxes behind a Linux/i586 Gateway/Firewall connecting those to the Internet via IP Masquerading. This of course makes it hard to share or/and download via GNUtella. Now, if a Client would run on that Firewall, that has full access to the net and is up 24/7, this would solve all of those Firewall-Probs. Of course i want that Client to be used from the Computers on the LAN behind it, as it doesnt have a Monitor or Keyboard installed.

Now: Is this Client i heared off some time ago available and where? Thanks in advance for any answers http://forums.gnutelliums.com/smile.gif

What you mention is a very bad idea for a number of reasons that I really don't care to go through... The best thing for you to do is map port 6345 on the firewall to 6345 on your workstation. Then use the firewall's IP address as your IP, and set your listen port to the default of 6345. You will have no problems then.
