gnut questions Is there any good way to get info out of gnut-0.4.21 when it's running daemon mode (gnut -d)? I'd like to make sure that I'm sharing properly, and I'd also like to make sure that I'm not zapping anyone's transfer before I ever shut off. Also, does anyone know of anywhere I could find info on scripting for gnut? I'd like to tweak that considerably, and the help is minimal. Any pointers to any resources on gnut would be handy. Thanks! Hello. I use Linux 2.4.2 and Gnut 0.4.21. I don't know how to use daemon mode, but I do know how to use scripting. It is really handy for setting config params correctly and making sure you aren't booting any users. You can type 'help load' for a quick scripting example. The Gnut manual for basic and advanced usage should have come with your distribution in /gnut-0.4.21/doc/gnut.html. You can also get the manual at http://www.gnutelliums.com/linux_uni.../doc/gnut.html This explains pretty much everything you can change using commands & script. You can get to a couple more variables by typing 'set', which will list all config variables and their current values. Hope this helps. |
You could monitor it with a task manager cause it creates a new version of itself for every connection. You can have it print to a log file instead of deamon mode, see the script below. This isn't the best idea so when something else is available, use it. Code: I made a script (fix the word wrap) I use pppd to connect on demand, see the wake up stuff it's logged in within 90 seconds, I called this script from cron every night at 8PM, then had the gnutRUN.txt file do stuff (with delays allowing it to start downloading files) all night for 12 hours. I run gnut out of it's own directory, put the gnutRUN file in that directory with shared, downloads ect.. Nice to let everyone share my files. The gnutRUN file is last (partial, you do your own) HAVE FUN! (a few people doing this is probably not a problem, but find something better to do this with it hammers the net fairly hard. I stopped doing the downloading and just have it run nightly with all my shared files, I use Gtk-Gnutella now, you should try it, please respect the Gnet, thanks) |
