Sleepy 1.32 client?

I have Xolox 1.32 and have very flaky results in a few of weeks of using it. Out of 18 requests, I have had 3 filled. The client just sits there with "Connecting to the network" and nothing happens almost all the time, although I am usually connected to the 'net for at least 2 hours every day, often 4 to 5.

When I first installed it, it seemed to connect quickly and I had three downloads within a few hours. Then nothing. After a week, I reinstalled it and it was snappy again. I managed one download.

Since then nothing. I don't have the time to keep reinstalling it.

This client is running on Win2K, SP2.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Are you firewalled? Are other programs using the Internet?

Thanks Linuxrocks

I use ZoneAlarm and, after I installed Xolox, I set it (ZoneAlarm) to allow Xolox to access the Internet. No changes were made to that setting and I have just now checked that it is as originally set.

Other progs access the Internet also while I am line, with no problems.

Any downloads? Anything that hogs up bandwidth?

valhealey November 15th, 2002 07:56 AM

Usually I have nothing running apart from the two ads in the program and I have a good Zoom 56K modem. I regularly connect at 42k, and download typically around 36k. No other programs do this, so I suspect that the problem is the prog itself.

Ten minutes ago I did another search and still have a blank page and yes I am connected. Yesterday I made two searches and still have blank pages, although I have been connected for at least four hours since I started the first search.

The lower ad is almost always running. The top one rarely. "not be displayed" is usually there.

This should really be posted on the Xolox forums.

True, but some problems are client-specific.
