Hello!

By changing to port 6346, 6347 or 6355 and then configure your FireWall or Router to allow communications over those ports you will probably be able to use Gnutella whitout a problem if your ISP allow it.

However you could be unlucky and your ISP may block Gnutella traffic. But the fact that you are able to connect at all and search for stuff and occassionally download at slow speeds indicates that your ISP may be using a packet analysing tool such as Packet Hound from Palisade Systems which will slow downloads to a crawl to conserve bandwidth from your ISP's point of view and also after a certain amount of time even cut the download off completely after it had found out it was Gnutella traffic.
