how to find the neighbouring peer

hi everybody,
The first time when we start the gnutella servent it gets the
host file from some well known servers. After we get this IP address
list do we ping only to these hosts? And the next time when the
servent gets any other ping, pong or query messages how does that
route these messages? does it send it only to those in the host
list....??? Please make me clear about this!

All messages are only sent to hosts you have a tcp connection with.
