Thumbs down Gnutella & BearShare blocked!

I cannot connect to gnutellahosts.com or router.limewire.com past 2 days using BearShare or Gnutella. They've worked fine for past 6 months.

What's going on? Has Optimum Online (cablemodem ISP) blocked their traffic?

i can ping these sites. Maybe they're blocking port 6346 connections?

I'm located in Connecticut.

any tricks I can use to test if they are blocking the traffic?
i.e. netstat?

Both gnutellahosts.com:6346 and router.limewire.com:6346 have been having connectivity problems for the last 24 hours or so.

Unhappy blocked ports

refer to this post: "ISP Blocking Gnutella? I can get around it..... ", there are a few people that have been having this problem also.
The problem (for me definitely) is not busy routers. I got juno on my machine for the hell of it and connect within 1 minute. As soon as I try to connect with my work T1 line (same PC that is) I get timeout messages and no further attempts to connect to anyone else.
No one seems to know how to get around this one...

Would moving to another port work? I think we should move to the port that Aim uses, so if they blocked it, the Aim users wouldn't be happy. What do you think, CycloCide?

go to

http://www.clip2.com/

and try to connect to one of the reflectors or go to

http://zeropaid.com/

and/or any site that lets you web search the gnutella network and then manually enter the IP addresses.

You should have a host cache list of lots of servers and that will get you started if you wait till it finds one host (that will then give you 10 more). What lame *** client are you running that doesn't have a host cache? Better send a nasty message to that author!

You need to know how to do this because you can't always depend on these central servers.

While you are at it, think what you are going to do when the power and water get cut off at your house.

Damn, one little glitch and you all freak out.
