Searches - a frustration hi why is it that i can put in a band name in the artist box one moment and get a load of results - yet when i try and do a new search for the same artist ten minutes later - i get no results whatsoever? can you help? someone? cheers - andrew in brighton, england |

No, this probably happens because the servents you are connected to filter out this re-search if it happens to soon. For example gtk-gnutella does this when running as an ultrapeer. If a leaf node re-sends the same search request too early (< 20 minutes or something), the search query is dropped by the ultrapeer and therefore never reaches the rest of the network. You could try searching for the same artist by modifying the search keywords a bit (swap the words or for example search for the artist + part of a song name). @RaaF: it is very improbable that all servents that sent a hit before have vanished since the previous search. This may happen when you have very few search results, but with popular files this is nearly impossible. Last edited by TranceTip; February 18th, 2004 at 05:11 AM. |
