Also when I do manage to start a down load I either lose connection or it just seems to stop downloading can I resume from where I left off ??

Push Request & Resuming Downloads

A push request is what is used to connect to someone that is behind a firewall. Unfortunately these push request timeout or fail a lot. There is nothing that you can do about it, sorry.

Yes most Gnutella clients will let you resume downloads as long as they have the same name. If your client will not let you resume download, I would get a better one.
