![]() Hi gang. Ok, Ive downloaded a few complete albums in MP3 format, of which a couple of them were in 'Album Wrap' format where it extracts the songs individually. However I've got a couple that aren't in that format.. ie I believe that are actually one big MP3 file.. Are there any other programs or formats that I can use to separate the individual tracks... or will I have to do this manually? Thanx in advance, Bunce |

![]() Just convert the thing into a WAV. There are plenty of WAV splitting programs available. Once you've split the thing, encode the results back into MP3s, and discard the WAVs. As for the tag info (artist name, song name, etc.), I believe you're out of luck ![]() |

![]() There are several programs that will split up mp3 files without having to convert them to wav format first. I think that MusicMatch, and CoolEdit will both do it, but I don't know which ones to use for sure. Their websites sure have that information on them. I do know for sure that you can do it, several of my friends split mp3 files regularly. |

![]() I wasn't stipulating that MP3 splitters don't exist. It's just that WAV splitters have been around much longer and there are many more of them, which means you're likely to be able to find a program which matches your working style best (which in my case would be a standard open-source console program that takes a big WAV on standard input and produces a tar of small WAVs on standard output). If you restrict yourself to MP3 splitters, you're more likely to have to settle for a choice between only four or five programs. Besides, an MP3 splitter wouldn't fill in the tags, either, so you'd still have to do that by hand. |
