BearShare also has a nice forum http://bearshare.net/ were you can get a lot of help.

If you are on the internet for long periods of time, I would get a firewall. ZoneAlarm is a free firewall program that is easier to use them most other ones. But if you are not on the internet that much don't worry about it.
