concerned I am always worried when a new tool is created that can be used for anti-social behaviour. It is true that you can be traced on the web, but who cares, you are one in a billion. I do care if sinister acts of lawlessness (crimes against the young and innocent) are encouraged to grow without fear of reprisal.
It takes a police force to keep the bad elements of society from the good. We all accept that. Freedom of speach is good, but when it affects the freedom of others?
We all abhor globalisation, but not enough, it seems, to stop us buying cheaper clothes. We all know that 50% of chocolate is produced by slavery, but it does not stop us from buying and eating chocolate. We all know that people will follow the path of least resistance even if it encorages select groups of society to take advantage of an opportunity when presented.
And to those extremely stupid individuals that believe Gnutella is a P2P and your communications cannot be traced, just remember, it's TCP/IP. No matter what you send or receive, it still goes through an ISP, a router or a telecommunications facility; which will have some form of local govenrment control - dream on!
If you really want to gain some form of privacy what you should do is release the source code for a simple browser to the public domain and just create your own index web site for your particular interests, which should be published to a global index of indexes web page. |
