read past threads and still can't figure out how to connect...

How do I double check to make sure that 1) I don't have personal firewall software blocking connections and 2) that my ISP does not disallow gnutella connections?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

2) Telephone their support section & ask them.
1) A quick but not total test is to go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ If you get the message saying Test page was successful then at least you can get thru port 6346 which is what LW uses by default. If you receive anything else then your port 6346 is totally blocked. In many cases with firewalls or modems/routers that use NAT, it only partially blocks this port. ie: you might be able to dwnld thru that port but nobody would be able to upld from you. Another test is to leave LW on for up to an hr & do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image If it says false then there's something blocking LW's access.
Instructions to allow LW access for the most common firewalls can be found here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Thanks, I got it working...

with your help, you rock! One more question if you don't mind. I am having trouble saving the downloaded music to a file I can access. Maybe I'm being retarded, but for some reason I can't get the music to download to a CD. Thanks for your help and sorry if this is so trivial that it's a waste of your time.

Thanks again!

You can't save directly to a CD. You must save it to your hard disk drive 1st. Then either drag & drop the files to your burner app or direct the burner app to where your LW dwnld folder is. Your LW dwnld folder's name, location & path can be found out by going to LW's menu Tools>Options>Saving. Also if you have LW 4.2, in your LW Library window there will be a folder called 'Saved files'. Click on this, & then click onto any of the files listed to the right of it & press the Explore button. This will open the folder up for you.

If you have iTunes, you can create playlists & burn them using iTunes.
