am i being greedy or stupid?

i have probably 100 dl going on at once and my max simultaneous is 100.now heres my prob;seems like just recently im only getting 2 connections.are all the other items im attempting to connect to really ''busy''?in the begining i was able to dl 5 items an hour, now maybe 1 a week.most of the items(90%)im trying to dl are either video clips or whole movies.also,is it wise to click ''find sources''?does it work?PLEASE HELP,IM BEGGIN YA!!!!!!!

also....after every item i delete,i see this ''thumbs'' title in red....WTF is this?

Items in red are those who are behind firewalls. It will be harder (but not impossible) to downld from those sources.

Yes Find sources does work! If you have a healthy connection it may work very well indeed. But nothing is more effective than manually searching for the topic itself to help find sources.

The issue with Find Sources/Resume is if it's applied to too many files it will result in side-FX!!! Your files will be queued for much much longer. LW's connection quality may drop. LW & perhaps even your comp will use up all their resources & thus everything slows down. Loss of effective quality use.

Some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.

let me start by saying you are awesome.thanks for replying.let my rephrase my ''thumbs'' issue.after ive dl'ed a file and decided to delete it,i will very soon after find the word ''THUMBS''in red at the bottom of the''saved''and/or''shared''section in my library.it will have various kb sizes.now am i correct that the file i just deleted were now put behind a firewall, thus titling it ''thumbs''?as for the find sources topic, maybe the hosts sharing are not online.could it be im trying to find too many sources at once?i click ''find source'' whenever i see ''need source'',which is what 90% of my dl's need.should i try and find multiple sources or one at a time?btw, your hints are lost on this dullard........i hate to burden you with yet another oddity.....i get disconnected every stinkin time after an hour or so.WTF gives?!?!?again, thanks a bunch.

To re-iterate to apply the find sources or resume function on too many files 'will' put lw under stress. It might seem like a pain, but manually searching each file's topic is much more effective & healthier for both LW, your comp. & the gnutella network so it's not overworked.

I don't have LW running at present. But yesterday I turned it on & without a single search or anything (I just left it up to its own resources), but after 35 mins I had a file downlding from 4 sources at max speed (for me which is 27 KB/s). 15 mins later I had a look & another file was downloading from 2 sources. There were also people uploading from me. That's very important to have people uplding from you b/c search & downld results improve dramatically. And in my case I hadn't even done any search ... just opened LW in the background whilst I was on the forum.

That get's back to the earlier points I made about optimising your LW. OK perhaps you need to learn what is the best optimised situation for your particular situation. But experimentation breeds this type of info. Until you eventually narrow it down to your own particular system. I hope this has been helpful. I only use broadband at the bottom level but I get top results due to experience at setting up LW & searching. I am rarely disappointed.
