Being an Ultrapeer

Curiosity question.... I have a cable/dsl connection. Will being an Ultrapeer reduce my bandwidth for my own downloads? In other words, reduce my download speed? Don't mind helping out the users with slower speed connections, but don't want to drag myself down (drastically) in the process.

Thanks in advance for any helpful input!

Salut Allinova, normally an UP consumes 5KB/s both down and up. This should not slow down your connection for downloads. However, if your computer is low in ram or cpu, it can slow your computer. If your computer has more than 500MHZ, 256MB ram and a connection better than 256/128kbps, you should not worry. Test it, and if you think it slows you, desactivate the check case in options -> Speed

Right now, gnutella is not lacking UPs, so you can help the network by sharing if you prefer!

Ciao :p

Thank you for the input!

My computer is well above the processor speed and RAM that you mentioned so I'll take your advise and not worry about it. I've listed myself as a UP once again!

Again, thanks for the quick response!
