1000's of 6346 hits from one IP-help! For a few days last week I was on the Gnutella network (with Limewire 1.6d). Though it's been several days since I disconnected, my firewall logs show _thousands_ of port 6346 hits from a single IP: 131.116.76.178. And there does not seem to be any end in sight. Having used the Gnutella network for well over a year with various servents, I am quite familiar with the lingering effects of 6346 port activity after terminating the use of a servent. I never considered to be much of a problem. However, this current situation is beyond tollerance and is affecting my ability to monitor my firewall logs for real threats. Can anyone offer any help? Thank you. |
I'm no Techi so I might be talking out of turn, but I know that in the new LimeWire 1.7 beta, there is a new feature which enables you to block IP addresses - this might work. Try the new version anyway - it's got loads more features, it's a great improvement. If not come back on and post again - Good Luck:) |
Doesn't sound like a normal gnet peer (unless it's a really poorly designed one). Maybe somebody's up to something. Anyway, here's info on the IP address... http://www.leader.ru/secure/whoiz.ht...76.178&x=8&y=8 If it continues to be a problem I'd contact the ISP. |
