What am i doing wrong... connection issues

Hi. I've tried to connect to the gnutella and other p2p networks using a multitude of clients including ares, limewire, and shareaza but to no avail. The few times that I could connect, and get a list of files, would result in the file 'pending' download whenever i select it (and I am selecting files that have high connection and speed status and a large host count.

I am no IT admin, but I believe that I have setup the firewall on the router that I use correctly for each program.

For example, for shareaza, I configured the program to use port 6346 (the default), and setup my firewall to accept outgoing ports with destination port 6346 for TCP and UDP and incoming ports with source 6346 (i've tried all combination of incoming/outgoing & source/destination) (for TCP and UDP as well). Remarcibly I can connect with shareaza but cant download anything. And if I test my shareaza connection at http://home.no.net/tgrumpy/ct/dex.php
it says TCP: The TCP connection has been refused, the port is closed. and UDP: No answer has been received from your client.

I am at a loss at this point. I have no idea what I should do. If I set up my router wrong or if you have any ideas please tell me.

(I disabled windows firewall btw)

Thanks alot

More info

In addition my router's firewall logs are clean concerning blocked transfers. Even though the shareaza site says i am having connection problems, I have no records in my firewall that says 6346 is being blocked

It might be your provider that blocks port 6346.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. But i just wanted to mention that I am experiencing some connection problems myself, at this point. I don't know what it is, but it seems that whenever I am searching for an artist or anything, I return with a full search with 0 contents. I have no clue what is wrong. plz, can anyone help out? i am wondering whether it's a problem with my fire wall. but I never blocked any content from this site. I am using LimeWire. I hope I can get help in this, since i have enjoyed LimeWire for quite a while. It's the fastest downloading system ever, but i need help with this, plz!! Otherwise, i would hate to unistall the program.

Unable to connect

Hi, I am new to this forum. Am experiencing problems getting connected, have tried Blubster and Bearshare. Tried turning off firewall. Am using Comcast cable. All other interenet connections are OK. When I try to download, get a message saying unable to connect to the gnutella network.
Would appreciate some help on this one.

If you're using LimeWire (LW) then post in the LW Connections Problems section & supply the following information.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

And do this test: Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Also did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)
