Question Zone Alarm

I cannot connect whilst Zone Alarm is running. Whenever I shut ZA down, the connections just roll in, but this does seem to negate the reason for having the firewall in the first place. I have given the permissions for Limewire 1.7 to run (JAVAW.EXE) but I still cannot get a conneciton. I have definately zeroed it down to Zone Alarm, so if you can help it would be much appreciated.

Default Zone Alarm

When Zone Alarm does this to me I've been able to fix it, by removing the program (right click) from Zone Alarm's program window.

Then when Zone Alarm asks again for access permission I check the box that says remember my preference then I click yes to Internet permission and do the same for the Server permission request that follows.

Sometimes when programs accessing the internet are changed or server permission is de-activated, Zone Alarm blocks it without warnings.

Once in a while check your Zone Alarm program window to make sure programs that need to act as servers have that function activated.

Setting it to medium seems to work, as it stops filtering Ping requests (pong replies whichever), it also stops a hell of a lot of unneccesary logging, and unless you are truly paranoid and have a lot of sensitive data should be enough

for those totally paranoid and want a fully secure system... get a PROPER firewall...

I set Zonealarm's Internet Security setting to "high" and can connect just fine. Even if I shut ZA off completely, I don't really see a huge increase in connectivity, maybe 25-50% increase, but who's to say that it's ZA's fault, and not a connection to a very ripe node?
