i got caught using p2p

hi

i use p2p to download various types of files. the other day, i received an e-mail in my ISP mailbox.. not my hotmail, but my ISP, which is weird.

i get a pdf file with a cease and desist letter from a lawyer company.. what should i do?

they're saying i owe them $50,000 for the files i shared on gnutella. i had some movies and MP3s, but $50,000 i don't have that kind of money.

plus the e-mail was addressed to my parents, not me.. what should i do?!

owell.. looks like you shouldnt have downloaded copyright material... thats your fault, not ours. and we cant legally give you legal advice since we are not lawyers. btw, if you see the riaa, or mpaa, tell them to go f-uck themselves. :)

long-live P2P!!!!!

Cease and Desist

Well BustedP2P

They caught you, so you cease & desist, delete all incriminating files off your PC, with something like Norton WipeInfo or Fileshredder, then hide your PC at a friends house.

Good Luck.

bustedptp might just have had a spoof letter EBay users get them once an hour????? I don't know what the going rate for copyright infringement is or what they are accusing the offener of doing in quantity terms, but $50,000 well that sounds live a serious fine ,,, for parking on double yellow lines in London EG :)

i just talked to my lawyer today

he said the charges are very serious. we subpeonad the information relating to the case and the RIAA/MPAA found me on gnutella and on limewire also. i thought the programs i was using with the p2p applications was keeping me anonymous.

for your information, my sister used the p2p application to download some illegal music. there are no legitimate files on many of these p2p networks and i find it funny that this forum hides behind a "no piracy" banner. i almost bet 90% (and all the moderators) use p2p for illegal activities, because most users are whining about downloading child porn clips.

why were they looking for porn on p2p? most p2p porn are clips stolen from websites, or clips stolen from an illegally aquired porn.

is there any way to not get caught?

Whenever you surf the web or use the P2P network you lead with and leave behind your IP Address. Once your IP is captured it will lead to your ISP and then back to you, and there is no way around this.

Obvious RIAA TROLL!

You people really fall for this crap now don't you?

First he says he thought he was anonymous when everyone knows better, then he goes on to talk about how this forum could possibly be connected because they talk about no pirated info, then goes on to tell you all the bad "illegal" things he did and goes into this 90% thing and on and on, what a obvious troll!

But i think if you have a static IP address, i think they wouldn't get your IP address then.
