rogerinfrance which topic were you wanting to post to? It seems your post, as interesting a view as it is, is not really fitting in this thread topic. Send us a personal message (pm) by clicking my username & I'll move it for you. ;)

I don't know how much of help this would be but my husband was able to connect to Limewire fine at his job using his laptop. Wasn't detecting a firewall and was working fine. He works within 40 minutes or so from our house. He brought his laptop in and it automatically detects a firewall refusing to connect.

There's obviously something wrong with our network here at home. We've tried every help suggestion here and nothing is working.

Our firewall, which is Windows XP Firewall, is allowing full access to limewire/gnutella & port 6346. We've even tried turning off the firewall completely and the program is still picking it up.

Any new suggestions?

If it's not due to your software firewall then it's most likely due to your hardware (if not your isp). Check your modem/router brand & model & make sure UPnP is enabled. IF it doesn't have that ability or seems unreliable then manual port forwarding is the best answer. Check here for options Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Alltel is a client of AT&T Worldnet, which uses rotating blocks on various forms
of P2P to conserve bandwidth. These blocks typically last two to three weeks.

During this temporary block, try exploring other channels such as BitTorrent,
Edonkey and your own ISP's newsgroup servers.
