Azureus to Transmission Help?

Hi,

I'm on a Mac and I use Azureus and would like to try Transmission which I have ready to go. The thing is when I tried to use it once the blue Azureus toad popped up instead. Is there a way to put Azureus to rest while I try out Transmission and see if I like it and if not go back to Azureus?

Or do I have to completely dump Azureus and then open Transmission and if I don't like dump Transmission and go back to Azureus? I have some downloads in progress on Azureus still and don't want to lose them.

Thanks,

S.

It sounds like you are manually opening torrents from your desktop & the default to open them is Azurus. What you should do is open Transmission & go to the option (probably under file menu) that says open torrent. :)

If you need to change default for opening a particular file, get ideas from this example: How to change default program in OSX, but in your case you would choose one of your torrent programs if that's what you wish to change a default program to open with is for & of course do it with a torrent file.

Lord of The Rings,

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a whirl. Right now I'm on a downloading freeze (long story and it's basically my service provider is really strict, they gave me a free offer with lots of bandwidth for a month and then when I chose to not continue with the upgrade they used the bandwidth I had used against me) but as soon as I can try it out I will. I'll post if I have problems.

Cool followed the link and saw the vlc video thing.

Your ISP is known not to be super P2P friendly. :(
So I wonder if it is also related. They will know if you are a heavy user & what type of bandwidth you are using. So watch your back. ;)

Here's an example of how a p2p bandwidth shaper can work against Gnutella: Bandwidth Shaper Sample - typical of how some ISP's use it (click on link) ie: giving priority to net surfing & low priorities to p2p sharing
