Comparison between LimeWire and BearShare .

I compared LimeWire and Bearshare .
After a week of testing this are my conclusions :

LimeWire : lots of results , slow downloads , handy GUI
Bearshare : less results , fast downloads , responsive GUI

I did an sample search 8 or 9 times a night with the same keywords .

+- 2000 results in LimeWire
Only +- 1000 in BearShare
+2 MB/Sec downloads in BearShare
-500 KB/S in LimeWire .

After a lot of obeservation I noticed that my connection maxs out at 4 - 5 MB/Sec

I made up my mind .
There both staying on my system . :D

PS i also made my own installer for BearShare . Only 980 KB !)
But I can't put that out since BearShare would sue me . :(

I received already 3000 results with LimeWire, although they have a soft limit of 2000 somewhere in their code. About the download-speed... it really depends on how lucky you are. The top speed I had with LimeWire was 7Mbit/s within our campus LAN. So basically it is possible to achieve higher speeds with LimeWire.

I noticed however, that LimeWire very quickly gives up a download while bearshare retries more often. Neither BearShare (which I'm running with WINE) nor LimeWire reach the download performance of kazaa-media-shell, which doesn't connect anymore. Damn, linux gets discriminated against, again!

Apropos. Share your BearShare-client via Gnutella ;-)!

2-way Cable Modem .

The bandwitdhs i stated were not counted from the pograms themself .
My router has a function for logging this like this .
And i think my router is more accurate in counting what really goes trhu my pipe .

Hmm,

I cannot confirm this...

If you have the luck to dowload from a very fast server, than bearshare is sometimes faster...

but "normally" Limewire is faster...

I used bearshare over months, not only a week!

Yeah , but when downloading 24/7 round the clock , 30 files at once producing more then 2 MB/Sec inbound traffic together I think I can decide wich client is more effecient in handeling connections .

Besides it was an personal opinion not an statement .

Where is the difference? :)

But no problem some people like bearshare some like Limewire... some choose an other client! I wrote my experience nothing more!
