Can't connect with any program I use

Hey everybody..
I've realized that LW was not the only program that didn't connect.. I tied morpheus, bearshare and bittorrent, and neither one of them want to connect..
I've set every setting on my modem to default, trying several settings to make it work, and somehow, it won't work...
I've been out of connection for about 3 months now, so I'm getting kinda desperate here..:p
A couple of things you might want to know: I've contacted my ISP, and they say that If they even attend to block somebodys nettwork, they send out a warning first... And, I've not recieved a warning, so they are not blocking me..
And the other thing: it worked for 3 months ago, and then it just stopped..

I'm gonna be very pleased if anyone can help, and I am willing to help the ones who help me... I am an "IT-tech", mostly on hardware, so if anyone can help, I can help you with hardware..:)

1. OS version? XP

Here is the link that will lead you to the port forwarding instructions for your modem/router, this should solve your problem:

Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54G

UK Bob

PS. You will need a different "Port Forwarding" configuration for each P2P app you use, the one above is for LW, but as you know your modem can store these configurations quite safely.

PPS. If you still can't connect then ask your ISP if they have started to "Bandwidth Shape" your Internet connection.

I'll keep that it mind, thanx guys..:D

Okay, now I've tried port forwarding, and it doesn't do anything..:S I'm getting kinda confused about this..

1. Did you set up a static ip first before you set up the port forward rule? Port forward rules are set upon the ip, so if it's a dynamic ip, the ip will continually change & the pf rule won't work. If you didnt' set up a static ip or did it after setting the rules, then you will need to delete all those rules & repeat them. Set up a static ip first Setting up a static ip for XP

2. If you are using McAffee, you will need to disable your XP firewall via the control panel. Running 2 software firewalls causes side effect problems & less security not more. Double-check your McAffee firewall setting. Make sure it is set for clearance for limewire & gnutella.

3. Your model router is a "lemon" that Linksys released. They are a great company & have great products, but unfortunately that range of models had firmware problems which they never bothered to fix. There is a 3rd party firmware fix but it's not recommended for people who are not sure what they are doing as the danger of making mistakes is it could render the router unusable. As UKBob recommended, Port Forwarding generally helps make the router more reliable for p2p use, though still not 100%.

4. You can't always trust what ISP front desk people tell you. There was a report here Telenor report of blocking but whether that is a blocking is not confirmed. And then Connects sometimes via Telenor who also uses same ISP.

okay, NOW I am confused..:P
1: I set up the static IP as I was told in the link up above from ukbobboy01..
2: McAffee..?:P who told you I used McAffee?:P I use Zooonealaaaaarm..:P
3: I know I can rely on that router, and I know what I'm doing..;)
4: I know I can't trust 'em:P They only block my house, but my neighbour, who also has Telenor, THEY can connect..:P Jeez..:P

My apologies for the mistakes. lol :D

BTW I have heard of people installing FrostWire, getting it to connect, then closing it, & then opening LW, then LW connected for them. Might be a long shot. Another to try is Phex but perhaps same issues.
