swarming WOW! cool! Now I cant get nothin! for those of you greedy people who just couldn't keep your mouth shut, THANKS! couldn't use that little bit of brain matter you have. all you know is you want, want, want. you want it now, you want it all. well, here we are, swarming away, and now you get what you deserve, NOTHING! you couldn't see the big picture, how this would clog up all the open ports out there. you just wanted it all. thanks, you are so cool. those of us with a clue held back asking for this. some authors even held back while you greedy people asked over and over for it. you may not be the only one to blame. in the rush to bring you a "popular requested" new feature, the authors of these programs didn't create the needed programming to open new ports as bandwidth allows, or throttle uploads so that more people can connect. so all you have is 5 open ports per client, and all of them are clogged up with greedy little leaches trying to get "more" without thinking about what they will do to the network. Oh well! YOU LOSE! We all lose, thanks. Gnutella just took a step back, now we have to wait till the authors get a clue and improve the way they do uploads. Don't worry, it will only be three months of getting nothing, maybe more like a year. |
You have a point. |

the developers know what they do! Bythe way... swarming is a fasttrack technic.. "NO" GNUTELLA client use it! What the people talk about is multi-segment-dowload! and the poster is speaking about "PORTS" but he means "SLOTS"... so I think you can ignore this thread! Morgwen |
Swarming will make downloading more effective, it will be easier to complete a file-transfer, and you'll be able to share the file to others much quicker . Maybe you have to wait a little longer before it's your turn to download, but chances are that it will be more and more servents that got the file you wants. Bad programming won't get us anywhere in any case. By the way, isn't Gnucleus using swarmed d/l's? |

Now I'm confused, what's the difference between; Swarming downloads and Multi-segmented downloads? |
Ha ha! Moak, care to explain? |

Lotsa people confuse "swarming" with "parallel downloads" - even on the GDF. But allas, if some developers take the time to properly support parallel downloads, then Unregistered would probably not be complaining right now... |
