New user.I am used to Napster, and it had its own player. On the Gnotella there is no player. So,how do we get our downloaded songs to play on our PC?Should I uninstall any existing players? What is the best available free downloadable player for a lower-medium PC(500MHZ)?Some players installed in the past seem to skip and the sound is interupted. What causes this and how can it be remedied? Are the players that cost better performance-wise?Enough better to be worth the cost?Any info is greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to answer......Mike

OK--
When will people learn that Gnutella is not Napster! Napster is meant for mp3 files only, while Gnutella encompases any digital media you can store on your computer. Therefore, gnutella clients are not (and should not be) customized to handle mp3 files any differently than any other file ( a text file for instace).

Ok, enough of the lecture... at least you asked what program to get to COMPLIMENT Gnotella and not just asked for an unessesary "feature" to be added to Gnotella.

Anyway, for mp3's the most popular by far is Winamp. Another popular player is Sonique. Many claim that Sonique has better sound quality than Wimamp, but it takes a little more processing power. Personally, I use Winamp.

As for the skips you may hear, a 500 MHz proc should do fine. Try replaying the song you hear skips, if it always happens at the same time, the mp3 file is bad. If the skips seem random, or occur when you do some certain task, you could try playing with your player's sound output. In Winamp, I changed the output from waveOut to DirectSound which seems to help.

Hope this helps!!!
