Burning cds: legal or not

I've searched the forums and keep getting different answers. All I want to do is to download songs and burn them on a cd so I can listen to them in my car. That's it. I will not be sharing the songs or the cds with anyone. The cds are strictly for listening pleasure only. Is this legal? I don't want some lawyer coming to my house 5 years down the road suing me for copyright infrigement. Please help. Thank you.

I don't think Burning is the issue. Illegal Copyrighted material is the issue.

Downloading alone, may be enough to attract the buzzards' attention.

Downloading alone...

If downloading along is enough to get the authorities attention, then how can Limewire exist? Thousands of people are downloading from this site. I just don't get all of this copyright stuff.

nobody is downloading anything from this site...except when they are members and 'download' the images they are viewing....this site is in no way officially affiliated with LW or any other P2P program, and there are very, very few sites that actually host any files (BitTorrent sites host the .torrent files, which are NOT the actual downloads)..those sites that actually host files are typically known as warez sites and are against the law...

Legal Or Not

I suggest take a look at this site

Copyright.ch - Copyright information Switzerland and International

but remember that every country has it own procedure ....

Southpaw4vr, According to stats, there are Millions of people that use Limewire at any given time. No one said using any P2P App is for the Faint of Heart. Sure there's a level of risk, but driving to work everyday is also a little risky.

If Paranoia out weighs the benifit, then this might be something that is not suited for you. Do a little research and a lot of reading to determine if this is something you want to dive into.

There are also perfectly legal downloads that people use everyday. Anything with a Creative Commons License is Legal to D/L and I'm sure there are others.
Hope this Helps.

You wont get caught so don't worry about it. The amount of people getting fined and arrested for downloading copyrighted material is very few. The few that do are the ones distributing it all.

Well even itunes lets you burn cds so I would say no.
