Hey Roo, Limewire Turbo is a very old program. I suggest you download a the latest version of Limewire or you could try to ad free alternative Frostwire.

Any file sharing program that is over 6 months old could not be preforming at its highest quality.

The programs themselves aren't illegal but how you use them may be a different story.

Depending on your country's laws, downloading/sharing of copyrighted material might be illegal.
For example, here's LW's copyright information: Copyright Information - Lime Wire
Use Google to search for your country's copyright laws, or use the forum search to look for legal, legality or something similar - chances are you'll find threads with more info.

Files shared on the Gnutella network can't be controlled by the client that you're using - anyone is free to share anything, so infected files can be shared.
I don't know about 'Limewire Turbo'. But LW (official version) gives you the option to check files with Bitzi before download: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...owse-chat.html

The latest versions of LW have measures in place to delete files that are known nasties, before they're saved to your HDD.
But it's still ultimately up to the user to scan downloaded files with their AV app/s before opening :)

I downloaded a camera copy of a movie, in which all of the humans spoke english, but the translations for what the aliens said was in russian, with english super-imposed. Soon after I downloaded it, I received my first notice from Comcast that I had downloaded copyrighted material, and they named the movie! I figure it must be one of the titles they choose to watch for unauthorized downloading. It was a lousy movie, about aliens living in a region designated by a number (8 plus 1).

Anyway, I had thought camera jobs were a bit safer; it appears I was mistaken. I used Vuze to dl it.

File Girl71 - I wish you'd stop that; it slows my reading.
On second thought, never mind. I'm always glad to see your posts.

If I get caught reading File_Girl71's post at work, or by my wife at home, I'm in big trouble.

I already got in trouble when I was going through some images that I had saved...and that was one of them...my wife was right behind me laughing at some of them, but then that one came up:w00t:

why did I save it?...because I felt I might find a use for it one day...since File_Girl71 likes it seems I was right ;)

AFAIK they are the most dangerous ones to seek or second most dangerous ... that authorities keep an eye out for. Although partial file sharing is great for the network, I would not recommend it for such dangerous files. Unfortunately as a torrent, you really don't have a lot of choice. (Vuse does have some security settings ... however ... might not be that helpful if those watching are also downloading the file.)
