damaged files?

hey - a question:

how does the gnutella network prevent bad
guys from filling the network with bad/damaged
files?

java files were downloaded damaged-can't log on yo

Early March 19, downloaded and installed entire limewire.com thought all was okay, many new desktop icons, clicked on limewire224 and POOFAH everything froxe-no sign of life-shut down, reboot (dreaded scan disk) and again same- After quickly ;ooking at various new files, sa that two JAVA installed files had 'cime down the pike' damaged. I tried uninsyalling and reinstalling-to no avail. However I get to limewire224, as soon as I click, nothing. I do use an old 56modem yet no other real problems=please adcise!
