New open source client!

Yo, check it out- a new open source client based on LimeWire's source just came out. I hear these guys are pretty good Java developers and are going to try to make open Gnutella standards the way of the future. (kinda like LimeWire, hmm)

anyways, the software is cool and it doesnt have any banner ads/ topMoxie junk in it (finally a client where you can _really_ opt-out)

check out http://www.freewirep2p.com
or where I found it:

=) this is what we need, open source development!

Looks like LW and BearShare are getting a fair "kickin" too...
i dunno what the big deal is- someone helped me out by taking banner ads out of LW's code.. i'll be taking that lol

Cool Thing ;)

it's cleanlimewire back, atleast for awhile. vinnie from bearshare of course is bitching about how wrong it is for freewire to "steal" the source code of limewire. and i'm the jackass that goes by Chad from comcast. :)

i did notice i cannot connect to more than one host at a time, weird... my settings are fine.
also there is bundled software with freewire, you can opt out of it.

I just hope they add something to it to actually improve the damn thing without just grabbing someone else's code and slapping their name on it <*cough Morpheus Preview cough*>

If these are the same guys that did clean limewire, they are really being d ickweeds to put different adware in someone else's code.
How the mighty have fallen!

Yeah, they can grab code & all, but remember, it cuts both ways, Limewire can cut & paste just as easily.........

Nuh-uh, it's just Limewire without the ads. Sure, they've put in adware like the morons they are, but I'll take Limewire with no ads any day.

Don't bring Morpheus Preview into this, they had to release something, and branded Gnucleus it was.

Yes,

you can compile open source clients but you have to offer the source after this too!

Open source IS and STAYS open!!!

I heared that Limewire is responsible for the shutdown - I will ask Trustar!

now i'm not sure if freewire and cleanlimewire are projects by the same group. i did know that the clw team was planning on a new project name and a different looking client with the lw core. but the new clw site didn't mention it. but their new host is down as well.

still having problems with freewire anyways, now it won't detect any java re that i throw at it. no biggie tho, since i'm just using another compiled version called aqualime. well it's a clean lw version with an aqua theme.

works great for me! I like the OPTION to not install ad/spyware. IMHO the interface w/ a transfers window is better. I'm curious to see where this will go.
