i jus started up and i need somewhere to start. i tried "update" but it says that i have 1 host, 0 files and 0 megs. and i don't know if it was connecting or not. plz help

Try connecting to gnutellahosts.com:6346.

Maybe you need to think about using a recent client instead of Gnutella 0.56.

I'm surprised that no one told you about this, it is quite important, as 0.56 creates problems for the network.
