only corrupt files and fragments?

I'm a new Gnutella user and I wonder, how I can distinguish between corrupt (unfinished) files and complete ones.
Most of the movie-files, I tried to download, include just the beginning part and break somewhere.
I know from Napster, that sometimes an unfinished file keeps on the harddisk and is offered other users to download.
