Nah it isn't that hard.. it just takes time.
Check if you path is set.. just do a
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/j2re1.4.1

There's a problem with Limewire.lax that is approached by another thread and that problem gives a java error.. so you better check that out..

Sry forgot...

to run you can simply do
runLimeWire
or
./LimeWire/LimeWire
(assuming that your current path is /home/blaine)

if you want to make a menu link just point it to that last path (/home/blaine/LimeWire/LimeWire)

When I try and run Limewire (yes I have J2RE 1.4.0) I get this error:

[shane@bauman02 shane]$ /home/shane/runLimeWire
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Lax/nl/java/option/java/stack/

What does this mean? Is there a way that I can fix it? I have install LimeWire 3 times now and Java twice! errrrrrr.....

Try GTK-Gnutella instead - works out of the box for me - Limewire needs to sort the java issues out before I use it again.

Try this, it worked for me:
[shane@bauman02 shane]$ java -jar /home/shane/LimeWire.jar

Also, as root, do a rpm -e kaffe, which will uninstall a version of java that gets installed on RH/Mandrake distros. Kaffe interferes with the Sun version of java when running LimeWire.
