LimeWire/Java No java virtual machine could be found from your PATH environment vatiable. You must install a VM prior to running this program. Did that. I now have j2re1.3.1 and j2re1.4.1 installed in /usr/local. Set path as follows: export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/j2re1.4.1/bin No go! Tried same w/j2re1.3.1 and again....no go! Opened kate as su from shell and added the following line at the end of /etc/profile: PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/j2re1.4.1/bin Guess what? No go again. Tried w/1.3.1, 1.4, 1.3, etc and I still get the same message, namely: No java virtual machine could be found... What am I missing here? TIA David |
Test Try running "which java" or "java -version" at a prompt to make sure you're not running Kaffe or Blackdown from /usr/bin/java |
OK, I am lost! Which java shows no java installed. whereis finds j2re1.3.1 but not j2re 1.4.1. I have a path problem. Tried to force install with eye towards later linking j2re and that did not work. This is really starting to make me feel dumb!! |
you have to export the PATH variable after you change it |
1.) ~# java -version bash: java: command not found 2.) ~# which java (nothing happens I get a blank ~# again) 3.) click on file /usr/bin/java and get an error: Unable to run the command specified. The file or directory file:/usr/local/j2re1.4.1/bin/.java_wrapper does not exist. It appears java has dissappeared, should I re-install. I'm using the Blackburn version of j2re-1.4.1 Cheers!! |
