Thumbs down LINUX AND JRE1.3.1: How can I fix this error message running limewire?

LINUX AND JRE1.3.1: How can I fix this error message running limewire?

Font specified in font.properties not found [--symbol-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific]

The above message is repeated about 20 times.

After that LimeWire runs in a little window without name and I the only think I can do is to kill the pid.

My command line is:

/usr/java/jre1.3.1/bin/java -cp .:LimeWire.jar:collections.jar a.a.a.b.Main

You just need the font called symbol.ttf into your fonts directory (can't remember the exact path as i'm away from my computer right now).

Do a search for the file called fonts.dir, that's the folder you'll need to put the font in. You'll also have to modify the fonts.dir file, adding information at the bottom for that particular font (basically copy info from previous line except replace the name information), and you'll have to increase the number at the top of the fonts.dir file by one.

You can probably find symbol.ttf in your c:\windows\fonts folder. You can just copy this file into your linux fonts folder.

The little box problem is still happening to me too, but at least i don't have the fonts error any more.

Read the thread called "(New) LimeWire 1.6(Linux) StartUp Problem ", as this has been posted. Someone got the window to resize, but they don't remember how they did it. Anyway, follow that thread for info re: this.

Ya I tried installing limewire on my second computer and was about to give up with the tiny welcome window when I clicked on the top edge of the window trying to resize it, and it resized suddenly...its a very strange bug, all I can recommend is you keep trying to resize the window until it actually resizes. Someone else mentioned that you can try using another window manager besides KDE and it will work.
