Installing on Mandrake 8.0

used "su" and logged in a terminal as root. Ran sh ./LimeWireLinux.bin

gives this error

"Preparing to install...
The included VM could not be uncompresses. Please try to download the installer again and make sure you download using 'binary' mode. Please do not attempt to install this currently downloaded copy."

I tried to download 3 times, with the exact same error. Using Konqueror, there is no way to specify to download as 'binary'.

Thanks for any help.

I also have a Mandrake 8.0 and I had this output to my sh. /LimeWire command:

Preparing to install...
SIGSEGV received at bfffdf58 in /tmp/install.dir.5778/Linux/resource/jre/lib/linux/native_threads/libjava.so.
Processing terminated
Writing stack trace to javacore6850.txt ... ./LimeWireLinux.bin: line 1: 6850 Segmentation fault /tmp/install.dir.5778/Linux/resource/jre/bin/jre -Djava.compiler= -noverify -cp "::/tmp/install.dir.5778/InstallerData:/tmp/install.dir.5778/InstallerData/installer.zip" com.zerog.lax.LAX "/tmp/install.dir.5778/temp.lax" /tmp/env.properties.5778

What does it mean? Many thanks,

Goberiko

I examinated the script and noticed that it's because you haven'y the "compress" programm indtalled on your system. Simply install the package called "ncompress" using the "Software Manager". I did like this but know I'm a the same point that Goberiko. In the Limewire FAQ, I read that was a problem with the latest linux distributions ....
